I remember discovering this band called, The Dead Tapes, while scrolling through the comments of a Black Keys music video on youtube. There was a comment written by a gentleman named Aaron Bariso who headed a two-man band and was asking people if they could check out his music. Normally, I would avoid such overtures but for whatever reason I decided to check it out.

This was the first song I heard from theirs. It was incredible. His musical style was essentially a fusion of everything I love about Rock, the raw and unrefined sound, and the mad riffs.

Eventually The Dead Tapes were growing popular enough to where they were releasing an original track every week to quench the thirst of their demanding audience, and it looked like they were heading for stardom. All of a sudden, after 6 months or so, the Dead Tapes just dropped from the face of the earth. The youtube channel was deleted, any sign that the band ever existed was essentially scrapped and confused fans were left to ponder.

Some speculated that they were on the cusp of signing a record deal and as part of the agreement, they had to remove all their online content. But the worst was proven true, The Dead tapes were dead as fast as they came alive. A few committed fans have reuploaded some their material and you can find it in the playlist below if you like a listen. They are truly one of the greatest bands that never was and its even more amazing that they were only high schoolers. Wherever you are Aaron Bariso, rock on and I hope we hear more from you in the future.

This one called Every Little Place is my personal favorite.

Oh, I quite liked that. Will give it a better listen on my way to work.
So they have no idea what happened to the band?

From the drummer's instagram, the propulsion to fame was too much, too fast and it affected their friendship.

It definitely has a Black Keys sound, the guitar/drums duo, the big distortion, even the vocals. Also very bluesy, a little Jack White. Shame they're gone.
