How do you guys feel about music from Australia? I know some songs are pretty global in their popularity/recognition, but I'm assuming a lot of the stuff I hear on the radio isn't what non-Australians are necessarily aware of.

I think I posted this playlist somewhere else before, it contains a pretty decent mix of classic Aussie rock, worldwide hits, and more recent alternative Australian music. I've also updated it since then. It leaned a fair bit more towards 70s/80s Aussie rock, but I've managed to even it out a bit. If you enjoy or are at all interested in Australian music, I suggest giving it a listen. Yes, the first song is a given.

If you listen to all 70 songs, I will crown you an honourary Australian.

It's scary how many of these songs are regularly played in Polish radio...

Australia has a modest Hardcore/Metalcore/Post-Hardcore scene that is somewhat notable if you're into that sort of music.

And a minor prescene on the Celtic Punk scene.

Otherwise I have no familiarity with Australian artists other than Men At Work and AC/DC.

I am about to become Diplo's most hated person. I didn't actually know ACDC were Australian.... I liked The Rubens - My Gun, Jet - Are you gonna be my girl (Loved this song for a while), Jebediah - She's like a comet, Wolfmother - Joker and the thief. That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Well to be fair...The Young brothers were born in Scotland, but the band was formed in Australia.

The Rubens are really great, I've seen them live a couple of times. They're a newer band than the others, they've only been around for a couple of years but the two albums they have out are really good. I think Jet were really popular everywhere for a couple of years in the early to mid 2000s - they kind of disappeared after that though. Pretty sure I've seen Jebediah and Wolfmother play too, I really like Jebediah.

This song (No. 3 on the playlist) is from a band from my city, it's about being an aimless and apathetic person from Newcastle. I've had it stuck in my head over the past few days. Also, the footage from the youtube video is from the Star Hotel Riot which was one of the largest riots in Australian history and was in response to a pub closing down (no joke).
